I teach 8th grade Earth Science and I really want to get my students outside more next year. We took our students to the Water Treatment Center two years ago and I need to organize that trip and get it going again. We want to make it an all day affair next year, with touring the treatment center, the ground water lesson and taking samples of the river water. It is such a great resource and it is so close and it's FREE, aside from the buses. I would also like to organize a trip down to the river. The struggle I have is I teach over 100 students. My co worker and I were discussing doing a team field trip, with each teacher leading a lesson related to their subject matter. It would be nice to have 5-6 teachers so our group sizes could be a little smaller. The river is such a great place to talk, experiment and learn about weathering, erosion and deposition. During our climate unit I want to add a discussion/lesson about the importance of the honey bee and the vital role of gardens. I have been inspired by a lot of your posts for different ideas and topics to weave into my lessons.
